Just wanted to share this old book.  There's no copyright restriction and it's a charming old book on making gunflints.

The link works. I didn't read the whole thing, obviously, but I did read the part on making the blades from the core and making the gunflints. I cannot imagine working 12 hour days and making 25,000 flints a day. Interesting stuff.

If anyone ends up with a gunflint they need testing, I got the flinchrock rifles!   >:D

To think that there are houses in parts of England that are constructed of ton upon ton of knappable high quality flint!  It's enough to make Iowabow go Abo-Wabo!

You know, it's funny, and I told Patrick this...Texas chert makes sparks better than english flint.  At least for flint and steel fire lighting.  Yes, I've tested that.
