sealing ends on maple?

ok most of you know i have a maple log tat i hope to turn into a bow but how do i seal the ends as i have limited things i can use. i was thinking something along the lines of glue or paint? is there anything like that that i can use? thanks in advance. SS

Paint, latex, hideglue, hair gel, toothpaste, epoxy, super glue, candle wax, carpenters glue, PU glue, shellac, bear grease...do I need to continue?
