splint?
« on: October 19, 2007, 01:18:37 pm »
i have a future problem! i built a hickory lb for my 9 yr daughter, and since there was a substantial knot in one limb, i backed to keep it from coming apart. it draws at about 30#, but has a bad hinge at the knot. how workable would it be to use a belly or back "splint", glued and wrapped to strengthen the hinge portion?

A guy in our club..."Steve", had an osage bow with a hinge. He fitted and glued a "patch" on the belly using resorcinal glue. He then worked the patch down using a scrapper and tillering tree. Corrected the problem... :)
