Its called locating a property that has trees and asking for permission. Ask relatives, friends, neighbors,Co workers, tree cutting services,  etc.....I know ya got trees up there..go find some, ask,n cut. You should have elm, hophornbeam, oaks, hard maple and many more I'm sure

Look fir clean, straight trees. You'll be able to tell if its straight by how the bark grows up the tree. A straight trees bark will grow straight up,and twisted trees bark will spiral like a candy cane as an extreme example. Look at the tree from every angle. Also try and avoid trees with lots of knots and catfaces, which you'll see in the bark growing over an imperfection in the tree. Do some more reading and research on how to properly id tree species and how to properly cut and split them. Don't over look saplings either that are 2" or bigger, they will make fine bows as well and easy to haul out of the woods. Ideally the whitewoods are easier to cut and leak the bark during spring and summer when the sap is running. If your cut now in the winter the bark is much harder to remove.
