Which side for sidenocks?

Hey guys

I always forget. When doing side nocks does the groove go on the same side of the bow or opposite? Also which side of bow for right handed archer?

I put them on opposite sides. It probably doesn't matter which side but I try to put it so if the limb is twisted the nocks are on the strong side of the twist. Whether that matters or not I don't know.

What is this deal with sidenocks not being for beginners? I would like to make them on my future warbows, but even when looking at pictures of them, I don't see what is so "special" about them.

Nothing "special", just another way of doing it.  Single side nocks have been used by many cultures from European war bows to native American Eastern Woodland styles and others.

I read that somewhere too. Can't remember where though. Something about everyone doing them wrong. I've used them a few time and never had a problem. And I'm definatly not an expert. Haha cheers- Brendan

Maybe I read something about super heavy bows splitting the tips on side nocks, dunno, I don't pay much attention to anything over 45#, except to be jealous

Are you talking high side as if looking from the back or belly of the bow? In other words would it be correct to place them on the side furthest from the string?

Correct furthest from the string. In hopes that it'll help take some of the twist out. Hope that makes sense. Cheers- Brendan

I think the comments from warbow enthusiasts are mostly about the difference between side nocks and side nocks that are *exactly* like the ones on the Mary Rose  I aim for the latter...
