Thanks for the info I did not plan to do this with large hides I was just wondering

if it was a good method for smaller animals instead of braining or egging a hide of a smaller animal.

I thought this would be an easier process for small animals. If this method was used and the hides got wet would they stay soft the way brain tanned hides would.

not sure , but if they got wet you'd probably have to re-soften. Wetting a hair on hide is not a good idea- hard to dry and causes hair slippage. I just use the hides done this way for stuff i am not going to use out in the wet.
