Joints on the Kassai bow?
« on: October 01, 2012, 05:44:15 am »
Anybody know how he does those joints for his Syhas?  I've seen the true traditional way with the "V" Splice and I've seen buys taper them into the core material under a backing.

I'm thinking of doig a "hybrid" type laminated horse bow looking thing.  May even use FG on the belly.  Haven't decided yet.

V-splice. Make the fit perfect. Ideally use hide glue and then there is no need for clamps. Simply assemble then hold until the glue has gelled and then as it dries it will pull the joint together. This method works perfectly.

I'm thinking of doign this as a trilam design.  Are you talking about a heated hide glue or TB3 type hide glue?
