Yes it would come in handy, on a long desolate trip, if you happen to break down.
But if you are in your vehicle, keep the wool blanket, you can leave it in the vehicle, if you decide to abandon it, and start walking, but it can be used in a lot of ways also.  Shade, cut into a swath, to wrap around your chest, and legs, for extra warmth, and around your head, and face, in extreme cold, an emergency stretcher, just lay two saplings on it, length ways, and roll the edges up and over the saplings, a couple of times, and wrap the ends of the blanket with twine, straps, etc.  You can use it as a travois , and put all your other stuff on it and drag it, either by hand, or put straps on the ends of the sapling, and put them around your waist, or long enough to go around your shoulders and chest.  Cut it up for emergency snow shoes.  Can also use it as a water filter to filter out debris in the water.  You could use your spare "CLEAN" socks for that as well. :P  But if you have warm pants, and a sweater, or light coat, then you could leave the blanket.  But in the summer, a light sleeping bag may be too warm.  Where are you located?  Neder Lands?  Sounds like you have your set up ready.  Are you going to take it for a test run? 8)
