Noob with a shoot in question
« on: May 15, 2012, 08:27:01 pm »
I have only been on here for a couple of weeks, and find this is a great site for my new hobby.  I have just finished a hickory board bow from the sawmill.  Is it better to shoot it in before or after the finish?

I would go ahead and put a few dozen arrows through it before applying the finish. The tiller might change a little or you might want to make a minor adjustment in the grip, size of the nocks, etc.

Thanks I will do that.  It seems that it will be a 53# @28" 68" NTN hickory.

Of course you are now obligated to show pictures of the aforementioned bow.   >:D
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

What JW said, ;)I always shoot them quite a bit before taking the time for finish work. :)  Some people love it but I hate finish work and don't want to have to do it twice.  ;) :)
