thought I'd take a shortcut.
« on: April 03, 2012, 03:38:24 pm »
Well , its my fault. I found some time to do a little knappin & I was careless. I found this nodule of chert the other day so I thought I'd play with it. Its not the best or even close. I was thinning it out when it snapped on me. I knew I wasn't holding it right. Instead of making a shorter point I figured I'd glue it back & put it on the shelf with others like it. Don't take shortcuts, you might regret.

When you come upon a track or trail you do not know, follow it to the point of knowing.

I did that to a point last year.  I know I can still haft it and make use of it for hunting, might be a 1 shot deal though.

Hey Don, for us newbies, could you demonstrate how you were holding it when it broke and explain what happened?  I've broken a few in the last little bit and I'm clueless what I did wrong.  I've never had a blade as long as you're holding in my hand though.

Thanks, George
