Revamped a little knife
« on: February 04, 2012, 11:39:30 am »
A co-worker had his truck bed filled with chunks of a yew shrub he took out of his yard. He said he was taking it to the dump. Well, it ended up coming home with me instead. Nothing big enough for how limbs but maybe some handles.

Anyway, I told him I'd make him something from the wood in return for giving it to me. He brought me a little folding knife and said he'd like the handles replaced. I found a nice little piece from a branch crotch and added a back spine from a piece of a tropical hardwood called rengas. Here's the results:

The last photo shows the previous handle scales. I think it's a pretty good improvement.

Very nice 'upgrade' on that knife. He should be very happy!

I have a bunch of wood to throw away if you want it!  ;D  ...and a few old folding knives that need new handle scales.  ::)
You did a beautiful job of transforming this old plastic handled folder into a beautiful work of art.  ;)
