question about rawhide
« on: September 10, 2011, 05:18:40 pm »
I just got some rawhide and i want to get it on my bow asap. However I only have the regular titebond glue, can that be used to glue on the rawhide or do i need titebond 3?

Thanks.

I think tight bond would work just fine, but all I've used is TB3

Yes, but T2 is water resistant and T3 is water repellent. I've only used T2 on rawhide. Jawge

I've used TB I, II & III.  I've also used cheap Elmer's (White) School Glue.  All with good success.

Just remember that Titebond I or Elmer's glue will come undone if it gets wet.   As long as you lay on a reasonably good finish and stay outa a direct rain you should be just fine!

If it comes off, put it back on!

Any of the carpender glues will work fine for adding rawhide. I've used them all with good success.   Tell us about the rawhide. Is in thin like deer of goat rawhide or thick like dog chews? If thick you will want to thin it some as to not add excessive weight(physical) to your limbs.
