if i cut one down, rough it out to stave status, seal the back and ends, how long to cure before i can start roughing it out to bow dimensions?

You can rough the stave out to floor tiller stage without adversely affecting the ultimate bow. I've heard you don't have to seal the back on hickory and maybe other whitewoods. I do anyway but use shellac because it is very easy to remove later.
