1st Osage Bow

Resently completed my first Osage bow. It is 61" long made from a sapling growing in the back yard. The draw weight is around 50#@ 28". The arrow in the picture is rivercane. This bow has plenty of knots. I don't know how anyone ever finds this stuff without any knots. Everone around my area calls it BoisDark and all they use it for is fence posts. This bow is just as difficult to string as the fiberglass 65# bow I once had. I will try to get some better pics up here soon.

Nice looking bow from what I can see.  Osage is called by many names, you're referring to Bois D'Arc, but it's also called bodark and hedge apple among other names.  Hope to see a full draw picture on your bow.  61" requires pretty good tillering for 28", you've done well.  I've never tried to make a sapling bow, but perhaps I need to be watching for a clear sapling (if such a thing exists).  Dealing with knots is the price we normally pay for using osage.  I love osage, suspect you will too.
