Irontom, try this:  Get out the kids bow, snap a clothes pin on the arrow shaft just a bit shorter than you think you'll draw length is.  Now nock the arrow and draw the bow so the clothes pin slides down the shaft.  When you hit your anchor point stop.  Now measure from the groove in the arrow nock to the clothes pin.  That's your draw length.

Most bowyers build bows to specific draw lengths. If a person has a draw length of 26 in and builds a bow for 30 inches it will be overbuilt, slow and clunky  at 26 in. Jawge
