bamboo arrow qeustion

Hey everyone bamboo is all over the place here and I was wondering what diameter I should get? It is definitley bamboo not rivercane. MAybe 3/8 down to 5/16? Im shooting about a 40 pound bow Thanks

I would start by cutting them no bigger than 3/8 on the large end.  That will give you plenty of room to work the arrow down to your spine.  Never tried plane bamboo, so let us know how it works

Bout 3/8 or a fuzz smaller on the big end should work. they'll shrink a little in diameter as they dry.

Cut them long and wrap into a bundle and let them dry. Once dried you can choose the best sections of each shaft to use for your arrows. Generally 5/16" is good for the small end.

yup, like what everyone else said!  make sure you dont cut them too young.

You probably already know this, but a box end wrench makes a great micrometer for measuring the raw bamboo.

 Cut them at least 4' long. And don't cut any with the protective sheath on the stalk.
