I cut a big one today , I think it might shell out close to 100, I maybe a little early, I couldnt wait,,I like to cut in late summer, just before the bark tightens up,,so that the outside ring which will be the bows back is as wide as it will get for the year,I would rather be a little early as one day late, cause I hate to scrap off hickory bark,, I am also saving all the inner bark for chair bottoms and weaving for quivers, making some bark containers,, splitting the heartwood for ax handles, sawing up the trashey wood for wood stove, plus saving some for smoking hog, when I get through with it there wont be nothing left but, the stump,,and I may dig it up to make some bowls,
