my dacite abo point
« on: February 15, 2010, 09:43:04 pm »
here is my abo point today...ofcourse all mine are abo. i broke one prior to this and then sharpened up my tools and after i took my time i was able to produce a pretty uniform, sharp point. i started to really sweat the notches. i kept pushin it thinner and thinner and the notches deeper and deeper. it started off as an average spall. 3 inches long about 1/2 thick. its about as best of workmanship as i can get outa myself and my tools, and luckily it was the first complete point of the day......oh yeah, while getting snowed on too.lol  but it still doesnt compare to some of the fantastic work by most of you other knappers

hope to see some other abo points soon.

thanks guys,
yeah im with you eddie, i wish i could make it to the knap-in. there only seem to be a couple disadvantages to living in montana, not making it to the knap in is one of them, but its a small price to pay.  i havent found any signs of a montana knap in yet....although you sure would think a place like montana would have a knap in.
