One of my future projects is to make up a dozen or so Medieval era (looking) arrows.

Could anyone recommend a source for Grey Goose fletching?

I was actually looking today for feathers.
Found a bunch of things available on google as "Craft Feathers". Even Ebay.
Even saw some Crow feathers that perked my interest.
Amazing what one will find "outside the box".
I got stuck on the different pheasant and (simulated) eagle feathers that would make interesting looking arrows.
Didn't buy any because I'm still conjuring, procrastinating, and sifering. (too many choices!)

Someone had some goose feathers up for trade a while back. If you live near a lake that has a resident poulation of geese, you can often pick up hundreds of primaries along the shore in June when they molt.

I live a couple of miles from Lake Stevens.  There is a reasonable number of year around geese that hang out there.

It is worth a look.

Also, anyone in Washington.... We have an infestation of these guys on the property.

Because I'm 100% disabled, I have trouble getting into and out of my blind.

I'd be interested in trading Goose feathers for Turky Feathers.... You would have to harvest your own.

Most feathers used on English medieval arrows were white not grey. Grey feathers would have come from the Gander.

I've been running on the Robin Hood movie where they mentioned a "grey goose shaft."
Maybe, I can safely use white turkey fletch and still be accurate....

Our property is located about 20 miles West of Curlew, up the Copper River, a few miles South of the Canadian border.



We have a shooting range on the property  (Note the chickens for my 300 meter silhouette range)

We also have a couple of bears.





This is the little Sow..  I believe she might have a cub this year.  There is also a nice Boar about twice her size hanging around too.

I think we could have a good time.
