String Problems??

I recently made a new sinew string for one of my 55# longbows, heres my question, if a string is to overbuilt would it cause bad accuracy or whippy arrow flight and bad handshock? The bow has a 6 inch brace height and the string is still slapping my wrist. I put the old sting back on and I had no problems.

Hmmmm...long sinew strings are REALLY stretchy.  So, yes, there will be problems with hand shock, etc. with sinew (over-built or not).  The traditional strings for European long bows was plant fiber or, for woodland Native Americans, rawhide.

I like sinew strings....but I only use them on short bows. ;D

I've never built a sinew string but if too big the weight of it will slow down the bow tips and cause hand shock. If it wasn't pre-stretched I guess it could stretch and slap your wrist...or maybe just the extra diameter is where the slap is coming from.     Pat
