Show me your Pyramid bows!
« on: September 17, 2008, 07:34:38 pm »
Hi all, I'm about to start work on a pyramid bow and would like to see some of the ones you guys have made.  Full draw/ tiller pics will be especially helpful.

Thanks!
Mike

Mine are more of a modified pyramid. Gradual width taper of 1.5" at the flares, tapering to under .5" at he nocks. Sort of a hybrid pyramid. Works really well, in my experience for a snappy bow.

I'm a strong proponent of gradual width tapers. I feel it has advantages over the Holmegarrd style that's  in vogue right now.

More here (It's on Osage bows, so tweak the width for other woods as needed) : http://analogperiphery.blogspot.com/2008/05/osage-flat-bow-dimensions.html

Here was my first. It is Hickory board with glued on handle section so its a modified Pyramid in that the bend does'nt come all the way to the fades.   Danny
