Plains Quivers

Been away from this site for a few years and just returned. I am thinking of building a Plains Style Quiver. Should i make one where my feathers are covered or can a guy make a rain cap for them and leave feathers exposed? First time building one so any and all input is welcome. Thanks.

Make the quiver long enough to protect the feathers. Make an arrow cup with stick, so the arrows can be pulled out a bit for target shooting. The cup will also protect the bottom of the quiver from the arrow points.
