Hunting w stone points?

Do you all try to have you'd stone points already crazy sharp before you mount them on a shaft? Or do you hafted"almost done" and then take final flakes off edge?

Thanks, Paul

I'm not a knapper but I prefer to haft the best finished point to the shaft and touch it up later if needed.

I like to practice with my arrows to know where they will hit.  I get my serrations almost sharp enough so I can practice and take a final flake before hunting season.
