Grandson's first deer hunt
« on: October 11, 2019, 09:56:54 am »
This weekend is our Youth Deer Hunt where our State DEC allows 14 and 15 year olds to hunt deer with a firearm with a Adult Mentor with them. Only the kids can hunt. It will be the first time my 14 yr old Grandson will be able to go deer hunting. I am not sure who is more excited Him or me? I am hopeful that he has a good time regardless of whether he gets a deer or not. Gear is all packed, just waiting on Saturday. Please keep your fingers crossed for him.

Very cool.  8)  I was twice his age when I went on my first deer hunt and I got to see a deer. It was a thrill.
Good luck to you both.

Grandson did very well today. We saw 15 deer this afternoon. Michael had the opportunity to shoot a spike but passed despite Papa trying my best to convince him to shoot it. He said he had all season and hoped to maybe get a little bigger deer that the Land Owner talked about. He kept his cool and I give him credit for that. We had a real nice day together. We are back out tomorrow. If that spike comes by again, I will do my best to convince him that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush but it is his decision. Stay tuned...............

Nice going. Where I live, it’s illegal to hunt. It’s an experience I’ll have to live without. Watching people’s success in hunting is the next best thing.

I love(d) my grandpa as much as anybody who has ever walked this earth. But...….he never took me fishing and hunting like you do your grandson! He taught me how to use my brain and hands. You are a good gramps. Good job to both of you.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

You two have a special bond! i barely see my grandparents every year or two. I love them both! one teaches me ethics, patience, and about my dad! My other grandpa taught me how to turn a bowl, how to use my brain to see things as they could be and the need of a good debate! I hope their time with us is long.

You are shaping this young mans life in a good way! he will never forget these times! keep the good times rolling!
