Question on moisture after staining
« on: April 03, 2008, 09:59:01 pm »
Hi
I have just finished staining and finishing my first bow. I would like to know how long to let my bow dry befor it is safe to string and shoot? I have the three volumes of the traditional bowyers bible and that has been where all my information has come from. Thanks for any info!

Welome to PA Clint as for the stain adding moisture I don't think its a problem. When the stain is dry it should be good to go.
Any chance of a picture or two?

Welcome As far as moisture Dana is right. Thats not a problem but depending on what you used to seal it some finishes require 3 days to fully cure even though they seem dry.

Hi
Thanks for the info. I am going to give my bow several day to be on the safe side. I just wanted to make sure that we were not talking about weeks. I will get some pictures soon.
 Thanks again!

If the moisture is up you will be able to tell as soon as you string your bow. It will feel mushy.    Pat
