Prunus laurocerasus is the botanical name, I think you my also know I as English laurel?  I will reduce the staves, soak them and try to heat them while green, then strap them down to finish seasoning. I'll also try steam first but experience suggests I may well end up having to boil them.

One of my new rules for my self is “of it’s not too bad leave, call it character and people might not suspect” :)
But if you feel like heat bending it, I’ve heard it’s easier when the stave is less bulky. At this point, I dont rule out short bows if I need to cut of some badly bent parts.
