That's what I do on my Boo arrows, works good but you have to wrap the area behind the point so it won't split. That's one advantage to the socket, it holds the arrow together.

I am working on laminated shafts made from 7 to 9 pieces of wood (I know overkill for a 5/32" shaft) so I think it will hold together. I want to make the shafts from the same material the bow is laminated from to match

The Viking Hedeby / Haithabu arrows had bronze nocks.
