As was said, one inch is excellent. My favorite bow, also hickory, has about 3"- and I wouldn't change a thing about it. It looks more like a bow with a little set anyway ;D.

I'll try to get some pics by the weekend. I MAY even have the finish on it by then. I've shot it probly 50 times and so far I think its my fastest bow.
