Hand drill case (elm bark)
« on: July 02, 2016, 02:46:19 pm »
Had a pc of elm bark laying around and decided I needed a case to keep my hand drills dry and a good way to carry. Sealed with pine pitch glue and a wood stopper should keep things nice and dry, I need to put a braintan strap on it and call it finished.  Bob

That's nice Bob. Is there a wood plug in the bottom too?

That is awesome...Good idea

I suppose a smaller one could be made for a bow drill.

Pat, ya just a pc of wood in the bottom also, a little dob of pinepitch glue around it and couldn't see any daylight  shinning thru  :o ;D  Lyman, I made a little braintan sack for my bow drill kit, I just let the bow stick out the top and tie string on to use for sling. Bob

Bob, I have been putting my "fire bow" inside my arrow quiver and carrying the rest in a separate small bag. Figure if I am out in the woods with a fire bow drill set I would have my hunting bow and quiver with me. I have always suspected a quiver was used for more than just carrying arrows. It is a sort of backpack and quiver.

Those hand drills in the case would also carry nicely in an arrow quiver now that I think about it...
