Removing glue from bow back...

I used Elmer's glue to seal a bow back up while seasoning.  What is the best way to get it off?  I tried some scolding hot water and a scrubby pad but I couldn't get everything out of all the grain.  What's the best way to get the glue off the back of the bow?

Also wondering about how the little glue that's left will affect finish application?

I use my scraper to get 98% of it, then sand the rest off. It loads sandpaper up FAST, so get what you can with a steel tool of sorts.
