43" Northern Plains Sinew-backed Chokecherry
« on: February 21, 2016, 06:59:05 pm »
Here is the finished project that I have been posting about. This bow went from sapling to shooter in under 2 months total, made possible by the arid climate of the high plains.

She is 43" long and pulling 55# @ 25" draw (I expect her to put on some weight over time). Bowstring is 2-ply elk backstrap. Backed with 2 layers of sinew and wrapped with sinew at the tips, mid-limb, and handle. Sinew wrappings were then painted with red ochre and charcoal/pitch.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice, it would be cool to see the draw from the side but a great little bow

All the bows you've posted thus far have been quite impressive. This one is no exception. Excellent work yet again.

Nicely done AB.  I'm enjoying seeing your work, cool primitive styling on your bows.
