first obsidian point

Or I should say point-shaped.  Not a fabulous result compared to what I see here regularly, but it still feels like an accomplishment of sorts.  one small point from one fist-sized rock, but at least I was able to flatten out the turtleback.

Nice, by the way for the size,  how did you get rid of the turtle back

With copper boppers focusing on removing ridges. Still trying to learn how to set up platforms and hit them at the right angle to get good flakes.

That's an excellent point. Put it on a stick and poke a deer.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

That's a nice looking point. That would definitely do a number on a deer.

It might, but I don't know if it is legal.  it is barely 7/8 at its widest.  I think I will keep trying.  By the way, what do you shoot a glass/obsidian point into when practicing that won't break it and that will be easy to extract it from?

I have an old block target I shoot into. If I break a point I just replace it.
