osage tree
« on: February 14, 2015, 11:12:37 am »
Here is one I've walked by for quite a while.  The tree fell over several years ago, and had about a 5-6 foot clean section at the bottom...  i was cutting firewood yesterday and decided to cut it.. split clean and relatively straight.  big growth rings and great early/late ratio...

As a guy who almost never gets his hands on osage, my favorite part is how you had to "decide" to cut it.  I'm always having to lie to myself, "Oh, yeah, if everything goes right, there might be  three or four, 3/8" boards I could mill out of this 20" trunk, and steam them straight laterally...."

  That looks just prime.

That looks nice  :)
