I may be missing something, but I see hickory strips to use as backing of a board bow. Would that make it a laminated bow instead of a backed bow? In my area, Midwest, hickory tends to absorb moisture. Would that make it less good for a backing too?

Question #1.... Yes and you can call them both of those
#2... No...not being on the back... But if it was on the belly then yes if it was me,but maybe some folks might not care about that as much as I do

hickory is a good backing. and seal it up with polyurethane keep the moisture out
