John Strunk weekend
« on: January 08, 2015, 04:08:43 pm »
Me and my wife are gearing up to head down to Tillimook Oregon to do a 2 day build with John.
As comfortable as I am with building wood bows, I'm extremely excited to learn from a guy who's dedicated much of his life to it.
About a year ago I read the bowyers bible 1, and its what started this brutal obsession.
Can't wait to pick his brain and see what we come up with this weekend.
No matter how long I do this stuff, I will always be hungry for more knowledge,
and these old guys are full it! Cheers

Oooh, I am so jealous.  That sounds like a blast!  Btw, you're a lucky guy to have your wife understanding enough to go with you.  Congrats

Don't be surprised when you find how much you DO know man. Not taking a lick away from John, just saying don't discount what you know and do.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Falcon- she has a bit of the bug too, this will be her 7th bow! Not much convincing needed. For this,
       And for this years classic.
PD- for sure man! There's many ways to skin a cat, would be cool to see some other ways.
Not to mention, the Oregon coast is insanely beautiful. Get to check out all the GOONIES spots too! Haha

You will learn a lot just watching someone else work. I bet John has a few little tricks up his sleeve.
Looking forward to meeting you at the Classic also.

Always fun to visit a masters shop and build bows together. Every once in a while I get together with paulsemp at his shop to learn some new stuff from him.
Good to hear your coming to the Classic this spring, look forward to meeting you. Stop by our camp for a visit, the wife and I have a Burro camper which looks just like your Boler and we'll be camped out at the top of the hill. :)
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.
