Yew haul
« on: October 23, 2014, 10:44:57 am »
I spied a Yew tree hidden amongst other trees on a bit of waste ground between a trading estate and cemetery. Upon investigation i discovered a long branch with one clear side. I cut and split it and it yielded three long, straight, knot-free, flat-backed staves. I can't wait for this time next year now! :)

Ah just wondering! I need to start looking for some wild osage to harvest here. Seems like I remember seeing it pretty often before I started learning about bowmaking. Now...Not a one to be found.
