rasps for a blade made from a rasp
« on: April 18, 2014, 05:11:08 pm »
My horse shoeing friend has a lot of rasps and would like to have a blade made from one of them.  He just wants a good tempered sharp blade with a tang that has a couple of holes for mounting the handles.  Let me know if such a trade would be possible.  These rasps are very high quality and I think would make superior blades in the right hands.  Thanks  Joe

I've made a few blades from rasps. Usually use files, but working on a rasp blade right now. If interested, get w/ me and I'll dig up a pick of a rasp knife I made for the KITH a few years back.  dp

dp:  No need for a picture!  Ross, my young farrier friend, would like to have a knife made out of one of his rasps.  He has a lot of rasps and I can send you however many of them you would like!  Its finally turning spring here and there was a small herd of elk across the way this morning feeding their way back to the high country!  Let me know if you are interested in this deal and I can get some rasps on the way!  Thanks, Joe

I think this will get you there. It's the post by Bevan R, the bowtarist knife. I'd like to leave about 3/8" of blade sticking out back of handle for an "ice breaker" on the next one I build.

Get back w/ me Joe, dp
