Has anyone tried Viburnum as bow wood? I ask because after the snow melted off it the one in our backyard just stood right up. No set. It was real wet heavy snow that almost flattened the bush for 4 or 5 days. I know arrow wood viburnum is good for arrows (duh) and bow wood and arrow wood share some characteristics so I thought I'd ask.

Don, I would think Viburnum would make a good bow but I've never tried it.

Good luck finding a stave. I've got one but boy oh boy does it check easily.
If you get one bring a plastic bag with you.......as soon as you cut it seal the ends and then seal it up in the bag. Then leave it  for a long time in there. :)

Marc St Louis has posted a bow made with Viburnum. It was a number of years ago though. I believe the species he used was the Nannyberry variety.
 Viburnum species are generally typical tough shrub woods and perhaps underused because of the smaller size of the trunks.

Ours is a Viburnum bodnantense. The trunks look like they're about 1 1/2". I'll cut one later. They're in flower now. Pretty thing.
