The curly in it is a defect in the grain, not good for selfbows or backs, should be ok for a belly lam possibly

If the wood has perfect edge grain then yes you should be able to make it work. If the grain wonders forget it.

     Pull out your lathe, and, depending upon the length of your stave, turn a half dozen pepper mills and salt shakers ::)  Or turn a loooonnnng   thin bowl.

Its a risk, you could back it and try. I successfully made a bow from curly grained timber(tropical), backed with boo.It followed the string a fair bit but didn't chrysal. That being said I have had belly slats of the same species chrysal, with wonky grain in  localised spots on other bows.
