How do you do a handle leather wrap? I was wondering, do you lay glue down and how do you finish/start the wrap?

Take a look at bubby's how to on this.  It's very well done and should help you out.

I have seen it before and it looks very easy but I am talking about the wrap that is a STRAP of leather wrapped around the bow. I should have been more clear.

Woo, that how to from bubby is great ;D... shame I haven't seen it earlier >:(
My only suggestion is to make the leather a good 1/4" longer top and bottom, skive the back (or not) fold it over and glue (rough side to rough to give a neat folded edge rather than the cut edge. Just looks that little bit classier :)

Would it work with .5" wide leather? I don't know if I could taper it though. >:(

Yep.  You would just need to wrap it more times.  One thing that's good to do when working with leather is use paper, tape (like bubby shows) or some sort of cloth first to make a template. Get some paper and cut it out to make your handle just as if you were using leather.  Then use your template as a guide to cut the leather.  This way if you screw up you haven't wasted your leather.  If you are making the type of handle showed in either example the same principles apply.  It takes a little trial and error, sizing, fitting, eyeing it, and such.  I would also suggest cutting the leather a wee bit bigger than you need.  Do a test run and trim as needed. Just like with wood you can take leather off but you can't put it back on and it sucks when you cut your handle peice just little too short....

I wrapped it around and I have 15" more than I need. ;D so what I took from del is that I just wrap it around a bunch more times and cut the ends of the leather to merge it into the leather wrap? Is that what del meant?

Yep I've done just like that del, gives a nice look, just wasn't what was going on the bow in the how to
