Question about a leather braid handle
« on: November 02, 2013, 09:06:11 am »
I found this in the how to section.

And I was wondering if anyone has done this, because I don't really know how you would finish it at the bottom. It doesn't really say. I was going to ask the original poster but e hasn't been on in a couple months. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think that by the time you get the braids back to the bottom it will hold itself.

I think the tag ends are trimmed off a little long and shoved up beneath the rest of the lacing.  If you added a dab of glue as it was pushed under it should hold forever.

Thanks for bringing that back up.  Gives me an idea for a gift I want to make for a friend.

Thanks a lot. I was thinking about tucking it up, but I wasn't sure. lol. I saw that and thought it was the perfect for both my dads and mine. It is a real sharp looking handle, ain't it?

If you used two very close shades of leather and one much darker, you could make some amazing patterns.

Yup, real sharp.

I am using black and tan leather. I think it should look real nice.

So, work picked up. haven't had much chance to work the last week on the bows. Then I got a day... and broke my bow. Still working on my dads. I'm going to try to find Osage for mine since it takes more weight and looks so nice. Haven't found any around here yet... still looking. just posting an update. should get a bit done on my dads here this week. will post pics then.
