Built me a bowyer's bench
« on: November 03, 2013, 06:10:02 pm »
I had a little free time today, so I decided to build a shaving horse/bowyers bench. I used some dimensions I found online and some scrap lumber from work as well as some of my home made walnut stain and .  .  . wa la!!!   :o. It still needs the foot board, but other than that it's finished.

I got the foot board put on last night, so all that's left to do is give it a test drive.  I may fashion some sort of more comfortable seat and some hooks for hanging tools on.  I might go all out and put a couple drawers underneath, who knows.  .  .?

I made one very similar to that but I used sawhorse brackets on the legs. That way I can break it down easily and take it to various events where I work on bows and make a mess.
It's sure nice to have a sturdy clamp for the wood, isn't it?

I stuck an old lawnmower seat on mine. It's detachable for when it gets in the way. Looks kinda ugly but it's pretty comfortable. I figure if anybody wants to avoid ugly, they won't be looking my way anyway! I like the idea of drawers or storage underneath. May have to play with that idea too.
