Wood burned writing

So new easton is here and I have a question. How do u guys wood burn your bows and make it look pro? I have been free handing it and then sand and finish it. How do u guys do it? It has come out pretty blurry and not perfect looking. Just wondering. Thanks

Some folks will probably chime in.  I use ink primarily, but when I burn I use an pre-made stamp or pattern.  I never burn writing. Ink works very well to sign bows, but there are tricks to getting it to come out just right and remain resilient of the bows life.

I don't wood burn, but write on my bows and arrows and haven't had any problems with smearing or it becoming blurry. I spray a light coat of polyurethane on the area to be inscribed, allow the poly to dry, and then write over the area with a india ink pen. Once done I again spray, not wipe, on an additional coat of poleurethane. If you wipe on the second coat you will smear off your inscription, but with a light dusting spray of the poly the inscription stays crisp and clear.
