Elm homguaard/molly type thingy
« on: April 02, 2013, 03:54:00 am »
The other day I decided I wanted a new bow for 3d competitions this year. Now i'd pretty much always used a sinew backed osage recurve but the only problem with it was the draw-weight was a little high for dead-eye target shooting all day long. This bow is 48 @ 26 and so much better suited to prolonged target shooting. It's based losely on the holmguaard design.
A few specs - 48lbs @ 26 , small leaved elm stave, 67 inch nock to nock, 1 7/8ths wide out of the fades with a pyramid taper to 3/4 inch wide 12 inches from the nocks then tyapering into 1/4 wide tips. Bocote overlays, horn arrowpass, stitched leather handle.
Anyway here she is.  :)

Good job on that one, Mike!

Wow Mike, very nice. I'm a big fan of all your bows.

Its interesting how much the side profile of this bow mimics the Hjarnø bow recently discovered from Denmark.  Good stuff.

Thats nice. I bet I could shoot that bow at 28" and it would be just perfect.

Good job, Mike!  8) I like all of your bows; they are always extremely well proportioned and this one is no exception.
It's a pity your photography has a bit lower standards than your bows. It seems you only have a dark, forsaken den to take pics in   ::)
