Wood Identification Help Please
« on: March 19, 2013, 11:21:39 am »

Can anyone tell me what kind of wood this is? If you know, can you tell me if it's any good for making a bow?

 Thanks

That's what I was afraid of. I should have left it on the side of the road where I found it. Thanks though!!

Well if not a bow, poplar makes good arrow shafts if you have the equipment to make those out of a thin log like that.

Regardless of the woos species, a piece of wood with that many knots will not make a reasonable bow. Be more critical with wood selection; knots are difficult to deal with, especially when you are a beginner and the knots are that big and plentiful.

Yes I'm with Dark Soul. Make it easy - choose a good stave!
