Texas Osage
« on: March 01, 2013, 02:12:25 am »
Does anybody live near Ft Hood that would be willing to direct me to where I can cut some osage and what type of permit I need to do so? I'm new to the area so other than the nasty twisted stuff I've seen around ranches for wind breaks I don't have a clue. Any help would b great. Thanx!

Sorry ,don't live close but most Osage is nasty twisted stuff in fence rows,at least around Tennessee it is. You can do wonders with a steamer and heat gun if it is pretty clean, the twist ant much of a problem. Good luck on you search.  :)

Same here in NW Alabama. I find most of it in old home places and field edges. It grows like a big umbrella mostly. I have found a lot that grows on the ground. Looks like the tree fell over and just kept on growing. There are some VERY old trees around our farmland.
