Simple maple backed ipe pyramid bow...
« on: June 28, 2013, 06:46:55 pm »
Here's a simple maple backed ipe pyramid bow I made recently. It is about 33# @ 28", and about 65" or so NTN. Not near as nice as adb's maple backed ipe pyramid, which was my inspiration, but I thought I would share anyhow, :).

Sweet, 2many! Nice job!!

That's really cool.  I'd like to know how you prep the wood and glue it up and all.  I see the cat is watching what you're doing and as soon as you get the bow strung it takes off  :)

Thank you. What I do is rip the pieces on a bandsaw and then prepare and flatten them with a belt sander. I glued these on a form, but anymore I like inner tube rubber. I just don't like how it has been twisting my glue ups lately. I actually screwed this one up at first, I meant to glue in a power lam but I forgot as me and my wife had been arguing and I was not in the right mindset, lol. So I had to put fades in it and tiller it and stuff, where as I had planned to make a bow where it could be basically strung after glue up. Oh, and yes, those cats are very smart!  ;D
