What I found in the attic

Been renovatating the bathroom in my house. Biult in '52. I was crawling around the attic hooking up some electrical and a exhaust fan. Saw this hanging agout 20' from where I was. First thought a wasp nest. It's a fire extinguisher Made of brass still has all it's pressure. Stop-fire made in Brooklyn Ny. Anybody know anything about it?

It weighs about 25#. Has a sprinkler head with a lead trigger. It appears to me that this is supposed to go off if a fire it the attic. I saw it and had to go get it.

That is a fire extinguisher. The nozzle at the bottom has a heat sensative bi-metal trigger that sets the fire extinguisher off when it gets hot enough to melt the bi-metal trigger. This mechanism is how typical fire sprinkler heads work.

Maybe I should get one of those to hang over the kitchen stove.  The wife gets things a little "extra done" sometimes.

Yeah i need one too.  My wife firmly believes that meat is not done unless it crunches.
