Tanning Aligator Skin?

My neighbor's dad killed a gator yesterday down in FLA.  He gave me a call and asked if I wanted the skin and I said, "Heck yes", before realising that I have no idea of how to preserve it.  It's gonna be salted when I get it, any ideas to help me out? Thanks ya'll, dpgratz

You can just scrape it down like rawhide, stretch it out and let it dry. It won't be soft and fuzzy but you can display it that way.

Will I be able to use it like rawhide that way.  Like make a quiver out of the belly or something like that?  Thanks for the reply, dpg

Yes sir, That's what I did with it. I also use the belly skin for handle wraps. I just soak it like a snake skin, some TB3 and wrap it. Once it dries it doesen't stink.
