finally started on a new bow, for me!

I started working on a elm bow blank today that I had originally intended to finish for the ambush bow contest but never got around to it. Its a pretty experimental design so I got my fingers crossed that it holds together for me. Its a 58" ntn reverse riser self bow with built in tip overlays. he he he....can you say grain violation?The working sections of the limbs are all one ring on the back but I left extra wood on the tips and handle area. Im breaking all the rules with this one, hope she holds together.  ;D
I'll post some pictures once I get her tillered to brace.

Ryan, I think if you have the bending area a bit further out from where the reverse riser feathers out and leave the tips stiff that will help with any chance of separation on the higher back portions. Elm can be pretty tangled in grain anyway so those parts aren't likely to try to pop off. You could always put a layer of sinew on the back and wrap the tips and fades for insurance. Tim actually mentioned this idea for a board bow if a good ring was well down in a board.
 I have a piece of Ipe roughed out with the riser left high on the back to duplicate the Turkish look. It will definitely get sinewed though,with spliced in recurves.

 Pat, I had considered the sinew option ,but I would prefer it unbacked if possible. I guess we will find out.  ;D

I have seen the "build in tips" on a BL bow a guy in my club shoots. This works fine with very small tips.
The build up handle section is more difficult I think - but you will manage it, Ryano ;)

If anybody here can pull it off, I think you can. Besides being different, what if any, is the advantages of the reverse handle?

A smoother draw with shorter limbs. Less power stroke basically.
